As of the cathedral’s current liturgy notice, the Botafumeiro is temporarily not operating because of restoration work, so do not plan a trip around it. Groups request it by email to botafumeiro@catedraldesantiago.es; the Spanish liturgy page gives a donation of €10, “or the alms habitual in each country”, while the English page states no fee. Backpacks are not allowed inside the cathedral for security reasons.
Other foreign-language Masses are listed differently on the English and Spanish pages: German at 8:00 a.m. daily at San Fiz (English page) or 9:00 a.m. Monday to Saturday and 11:00 a.m. Sunday at San Fructuoso (Spanish page); French at 9:00 or 9:15 a.m., Polish at 4:00 p.m. and Italian at 4:30 p.m. Confessions are heard in several languages in the ambulatory chapels, without published hours; the Blessed Sacrament is exposed from 10:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary is at 6:30 p.m. The cathedral is open daily 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. through the Porta de Praterías. The next Compostelan Holy Year is 2027; the Holy Door opening date had not been published as of October 2026.
