The history, as the parish gives it: from March 1, 1984 the reported messages for the parish came weekly, on Thursdays, and from January 25, 1987 they became monthly, on the 25th, through Marija. A separate series reported through Mirjana Dragićević-Soldo on the 2nd of each month, for unbelievers, ran from August 2, 1987; the parish's archive page gives no end date, and those messages are no longer published monthly. The texts are short, usually a paragraph, and nearly all begin with Dear children and end with Thank you for having responded to my call.
Where to read them: the parish website's messages section is the primary publication and carries an archive back to 1984 searchable by date, with a note that the texts are published with ecclesiastical approval, meaning permission to print, not a judgment on their truth. Radio Mir Medjugorje reads the message on air, and the Information Center Mir, which the parish describes as its only official organization, distributes it; many other sites republish it within hours, with varying translations. Use the parish text.
How to read them: the Vatican's 2024 note The Queen of Peace judged the central content sound while warning that some messages contain imprecise expressions and that none should be treated as magisterial teaching. For a pilgrim, the messages are an invitation to the rosary, fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays, confession, Mass, and Scripture, which is also the whole of the parish's evening program. On the 25th the parish holds all-night adoration from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
