Walking the Camino independently costs about 30 to 50 euros per day in pilgrim hostels (albergues), where a bed is commonly 10 to 18 euros and the pilgrim menu 12 to 15 euros, or 60 to 100 euros per day in private rooms. Sarria to Santiago, five or six days, therefore costs roughly 200 to 300 euros in albergues before flights. Supported Sarria to Santiago packages with six or seven nights in private rooms and daily luggage transfer commonly cost 900 to 1,800 dollars per person.
A package is worth the extra cost for pilgrims who want guaranteed private rooms in high season, luggage carried each day, and someone to call when a stage goes wrong; it is poor value for a fit walker content in albergues.
Booking hotels yourself works well outside July and August, when rooms on the Sarria stretch fill weeks ahead. An agency is the safer choice for groups of six or more, for Holy Year 2027, and for anyone who cannot change plans mid-route.
