Private rooms are not guaranteed simply because a trip is guided. Ask for the room arrangements and whether bathrooms are shared before paying. July and August are the busiest months, when private rooms on the last 100 km sell out earliest.
Santiago & the Camino · YOUR QUESTION, ANSWERED
Do I need to stay in shared hostels on the Camino?
No. Accommodation can include pilgrim hostels (albergues), guesthouses, and hotels, depending on the route and availability. Albergues are the traditional option and many of them issue credentials and stamps, but a private room has no bearing on Compostela eligibility. Your lodging plan affects cost, daily distances, flexibility, and the kind of social experience you have.

Can I walk from Tui to Santiago using private rooms?
Yes, Tui to Santiago on the Camino Portugués can be walked entirely in private rooms, because every usual overnight town has hotels, pensións, or casas rurales: Tui, O Porriño, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padrón, and Santiago. The route is about 115 km in five or six stages, and private rooms commonly cost 50 to 90 euros per night for two, compared with 10 to 18 euros for an albergue bed. Reserve ahead from May to September, especially in Pontevedra and Padrón, and expect to book two to three weeks out in Holy Year 2027. Luggage transfer between the same addresses is available on every stage.
