In July and August the noon weekday Mass is dropped while the rest of the weekday timetable and all Sunday Masses stay the same. Eucharistic adoration runs Monday to Friday 8:30–11:45 a.m. and 3:30–5:30 p.m., with the afternoon session suspended from mid-June to mid-September. The basilica does not specify the languages of its Masses or confessors; Masses for the living and the dead can be booked at the Sacristy and the Adoration Chapel (basilica 06 69886433).

The cloister is open daily 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., the museum 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and the Baptistery 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Across the square, the Scala Santa’s 28 wood-covered marble steps may still be ascended only on one’s knees, with the Sancta Sanctorum chapel on the first floor; the basilica site publishes no hours for it, so check on site.

The feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica is November 9, when the Pope has celebrated Mass here (9:30 a.m. in 2025). St. Mary Major is about 1.5 km away on foot, which makes the two basilicas a natural morning pairing.
