Pope Francis is buried in the side nave between the Sforza Chapel and the Pauline Chapel, which houses the Salus Populi Romani icon; there are no special visiting hours, and the tomb is reached during normal basilica opening. The museum complex is open Monday to Saturday 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. (last entry 6:00 p.m.) and Sunday 12:30–5:00 p.m., with tickets through the Vatican Museums ticket site.
Groups bringing a priest must attach a Celebret to the booking, bring their own surplices and, if necessary, liturgical books in their language. The Holy Door, on the left of the portico, was opened on January 1 and closed on December 25, 2025 for the Jubilee of Hope. On August 5, Our Lady of the Snows, the basilica celebrates a 10:00 a.m. Pontifical Mass and 5:00 p.m. Vespers with the petal “snowfall”, after a triduum on August 2–4; the last Sunday of January commemorates the translation of the Salus Populi Romani.
