The morning belongs to the Basilica high altar as much as the chapel: weekday Masses there at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., while the chapel has Mass at 6:00, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00 (Latin), 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. The noon veiling on weekdays is the pause of the day; the icon returns at 1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (not Saturday) and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays and feasts, when it has been covered at 1:30. Afternoon chapel Masses follow at 1:30, 3:30, 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and on Sundays at 12:30, 2:00, 3:30, 5:00, 6:30 and 8:00 p.m., with Basilica Sunday Masses through the day to 7:00 p.m.
The fixed devotions give the day its shape for a pilgrim who is not attending every Mass: the Rosary at 4:15 p.m.; in May, June and October a seasonal devotion at 7:00 p.m.; on Saturdays the Novena to Our Lady at 6:00 p.m. and the Akathist at 8:00 p.m.; in Lent the Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 5:45 p.m. Adoration in the Chapel of the Sacrament of Penance is from 6:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. The Appeal at 9:00 p.m., sung before the icon and broadcast nationally, closes the day.
The page on when the Black Madonna is unveiled lists the full Mass grid and tour prices; this page is the rhythm of the day. The Custodian's office notes that the order can change for pastoral reasons, and on the major Marian feasts the schedule gives way to the feast program.
