Recent jubilees in order: 1950 (Pius XII), 1975 (Paul VI), 1983 to 1984, the extraordinary Holy Year of the Redemption for the 1,950th anniversary (John Paul II), 2000, the Great Jubilee (John Paul II), 2015 to 2016, the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy (Francis), and 2025, the Jubilee of Hope, opened by Francis and closed by Leo XIV. The Bull of Indiction for 2025 already pointed to 2033 as the next great anniversary of the Redemption.

In November 2025 Pope Leo XIV spoke of a pilgrimage toward the Jubilee of the Redemption in 2033 in the perspective of a return to Jerusalem, and in June 2026 he asked all Christian denominations to prepare the second millennium of the Redemption together. No bull of indiction has been issued, so there are no dates, Holy Doors or indulgence norms to plan around yet; expect an announcement a year or two ahead, as in 2024 for 2025.

Do not confuse the Roman jubilee with the Compostela Holy Year, which falls whenever July 25 is a Sunday, next in 2027, or with a shrine's own jubilee such as the Lourdes anniversaries. For what was announced about 2033, see what-has-been-announced-about-a-jubilee-of-the-redemption-in-2033.
