Other dates pilgrims observe: May 25, his birth in Pietrelcina in 1887; May 2, 1999, his beatification; and June 16, 2002, his canonization by Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square. His body has been displayed in the crypt of the Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina since June 1, 2013.

Outside the feast the shrine keeps the same rhythm all year: Masses from 6:30 a.m. in Santa Maria delle Grazie through 6:00 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Mass on Sundays and holidays. Spring and autumn are milder than August for the hillside Via Crucis. Check the shrine's current schedule.
