Knock has full shrine infrastructure: daily Masses, confessions 10:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., the Apparition Chapel and a free museum, open 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., 220 km (137 miles) from Dublin. Croagh Patrick, 764 m (2,507 ft) near Westport, is a hard climb of 2 to 3.5 hours round trip with a summit chapel; Lough Derg runs a fasting, barefoot three-day pilgrimage from late May to mid-August at 85 euro and one-day retreats at 50 euro.
Glendalough, St. Kevin's sixth-century monastery an hour south of Dublin, is free to walk, with a round tower, stone churches and crosses; the visitor center costs 5 euro and opens 9:30 a.m. year round. Clonmacnoise, St. Ciarán's monastery on the Shannon near Athlone, has a cathedral, two round towers and three high crosses, 8 euro adult; the Office of Public Works will close the whole site from mid-October 2026 to January 1, 2027 for car park works.
In Downpatrick, County Down, St. Patrick's grave is marked by a granite slab of 1900 in the grounds of Down Cathedral, open to the grounds year round and to the cathedral Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., free; the Saint Patrick Centre is next door. Other sites pilgrims add: St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh, the Rock of Cashel, Ballintubber Abbey, and St. Oliver Plunkett's shrine at St. Peter's, Drogheda.
